Hello crafter's. How are you all?

Sadly, recently I found myself in a position where I needed to make one of 'those' cards. These are one of the hardest cards to make. It's so hard to find something apt and fitting, whilst also being sensitive and respectful to the circumstance.

Generally, I find Florals are a safe bet. Nothing bright and cheery. Something muted and subtle is normally fitting.

Flicking through the 'Bloom and Wonder 8" Paper pad', I stumbled upon this really subtle, muted, delicate piece.

I deliberated for some time over which over pieces to put with it. However, I decided that sometimes less is more. Therefore, this was to be the feature of the card.

Being that there was very little other detail on this card, I feel that quality here is particularly key. (quality over quantity!) So, I made a UK A6 top fold card blank from some luxurious Linen Grey card. I trimmed my patterned card down to approx 5mm smaller round each edge than the card front and adhered it using wet adhesive.

Next, I worked on the sentiment. I wanted the card that the sentiment was on to match the colour of the card blank. However, I had no scraps and didn't want to cut into a full sheet of card for such a small piece. So, here's a top tip. I had a rummage through my ink collection and found one that best matched my card. This is a great way of matching your card colours up! In this example, I inked up a piece of scrap white card using Weathered Wood Distress Oxide. I stamped my sentiment and adhered it to the card using foam tape for a little dimension. Again, I feel that height and layers add a certain luxury to my projects.

I didn't do anything else to the card. I felt it was just right to give to the recipient as it was.

These cards are great for all occasions by changing the theme and the sentiment. But, they're a wonderful way of showcasing some of the pretty papers in your stash.

Until next time, take care.

Love, Dani xx
